DEPARTMENT OF BOOKS, AUTOGRAPHS AND MEMORABILIA

Led by Massimo Fino and Paolo Mecucci, the department deals with books, manuscripts and articles intended to bibliophiles and memorabilia collectors.

In particular, the department seek and propose:

collector’s books
(ancient books, incunabula, rare books, first editions and original editions, autographed volumes, unique books and artist’s books)
Manuscripts
Letters and autograph documents
Ancient and rare documents
Ancient and valuable maps
Historical relics and memorabilia
(items, autographed photographs, etc. related to historical or political events or personalities from the world of culture, art, music, cinema and sport.

The department team analyses, classifies, provides valuations and places on the Italian and foreign markets works of this kind on consignment, both for auctioning and for private sale. Private sales are especially suited for items of considerable economic, historical and artistic value.

At the same time, the department provides a specialised expert report service.

The department also offers a wide selection of collector’s books, autographs and memorabilia across all price brackets that can be bought independently of our auctions.

Musicologist, expert on books and manuscripts, Massimo Fino has been a consultant for the Auction House Christie’s International for manuscripts and musical autographs from 1986 to 2006. He is the founder of LIM, the Libreria Musicale Italiana, a well-known publishing house specialized in musicology, of which he is still an editorial consultant. He published numerous articles in newspapers and magazines; for Laterza published the volume Musica/Città,  related to the Maggio Musicale by Luciano Berio, alongside Carlo Majer. Since 1999 he has been the art director of the Opera Barga Festival.

With a heterogeneous education, Paolo Mecucci has a degree in Philosophy and a diploma in Composition and orchestra conducting. He was the last student of the American composer Robert W. Mann. His interests and skills range from musicology to bibliophilia, to collecting Old Masters paintings. He collaborated as an expert in collectible books, manuscripts and maps from 2004 to 2008 with Philobiblon, an eminent international bookstore with branches in Rome, Milan and New York. He subsequently founded his own bibliographic study with an international profile.
